Important Before Applying the Wallpaper:
- Let the wallpaper acclimate for 24 hours to prevent shrinkage.
- The optimal wallpapering temperature is between 18 – 25 ºC with a humidity level of 40% – 65%.
Plastered or New Walls:
- If your walls are freshly plastered, treat them with primer.
- If the wall is new and untreated, it needs to be primed. Alternatively, you can paint the wall with white paint.
- These preparations ensure better adhesion of the wallpaper to the wall.
What You Need:
- Screwdriver
- Utility knife
- Wallpaper spatula
- Cutting ruler
- Wallpaper brush
- Pressing roller
- Bucket
1. Preparation
- Turn off the power to outlets and switches on the wall and remove the frames.
- Remove old wallpaper and ensure the wall is clean and smooth.
- Cover the floor with newspapers, cloths, or plastic sheeting.
- Set up a sturdy ladder to apply the wallpaper across the entire wall.
- Carefully remove the wallpaper from the box and check for any imperfections.
Tip: For the best results, ensure your wall has a uniform color.
2. Gluing and Applying
- Prepare the glue according to the glue manual.
- Apply glue thoroughly to the first 2-3 meters of the wall.
Note: If you added extra margin when ordering, center the wallpaper on the wall.
Example: With an extra margin of 3 cm, the wallpaper should extend 1.5 cm above and below. This provides extra margin if the ceiling or floor is uneven. The same applies for width margins.
- Attach the wallpaper to the left side and press it firmly with the wallpaper spatula.
- If the wallpaper is misaligned, peel it off and start again.
- Once the first section is secure, apply glue to the next section and repeat all steps.
3. Finishing
- Trim the edges of the wallpaper with the wallpaper spatula and cutting ruler.
- Press the wallpaper firmly with the pressing roller.
Tips:
- Wallpapering around a window or other obstacle? First, apply the wallpaper strips over the obstacle, then trim it piece by piece along the frame. Do not trim the entire strip to size in one go.
- Small air bubbles will disappear when drying. Large air bubbles can be pricked with a pin to release the air.
- Remove excess glue with a dry cloth.
- Ensure sharp folds at corners for easier trimming of excess wallpaper.
